3D Fantasy From Chauvet

The new 3D Magic from Chauvet projects 12 richly textured, rounded patterns in a three-dimensional optical illusion. The four-channel DMX-512 glass gobo projector features high precision 3D optics, a bright 250W lamp, and a color wheel fitted with 12 colors that intermingle to create a multitude of hues.

Patterns can rotate or strobe. Textures vary from the look of hammered metal to the fluidity of oil, from surfaces evoking golf balls to the appearance of craters. This 3D feast is achieved through deliberate irregularities in the glass gobos and the use of fine pieces of dichroics. 3D Magic is programmable via a DMX controller but can still access stand-alone programs while under DMX control. On stand-alone mode, it performs beat- activated programs. It is linkable via master/slave and cooled by an internal fan. Lamp: ELC 24 V 250 W (300 hours). Power: Switchable 110 V/ 230V.

Last month at Winter NAMM, Chauvet unveiled quite a few new products inlcuding their newest intelligent scanner, the Omega. This compact and lightweight DMX-512 scanner opens up the world of intelligent lighting to many people who had shunned it previously. The four-channel fixture features 14 colors and gobos and true X and Y-axis movement. Stepping motors provide great feel and control when operating and the 150-watt lamp provides ample luminosity. Designed for the mobile DJ and for club use.

Chauvet also introduced the Laser-Link series. These lasers have 32 two- and three-dimensional patterns and are linkable to provide a fantastic show. The user is able to stand inside laser tunnels, stare at a laser sky as it descends, and become engulfed by multi-dimensional laser scenes. These truly wonderful pieces are available in red or green versions. The laser-link series will blow you away. These lasers are ready to storm onto the scene.

Barry Abrams, product development manager for Chauvet, accepted the Crystal Disc award from DJ Zone.com at Winter NAMM show for design of the Lazer Scan, intoduced last year.
