TV Lighting Master Classes Wrap Successfully

Hats off to lighting designer Jeff Ravitz, who added the role of creative consultant for Live Design’s new TV Lighting Master Classes to his resumé this past weekend. Ravitz, who also serves as creative consultant for Live Design’s Concert Master Classes, led two days of lively, informative sessions on the many aspects of television lighting.

Attendees from around the world gathered on December 1 & 2, 2012 at USC for this inaugural event, the newest member of Live Design’s successful Master Classes family. The speakers represented the best in the business, from Ravitz to veteran Bill Klages, who is the only lighting designer to have been inducted into the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame. Jim Moody, Manny Treeson, Keith Anderson, Don A. Morgan, Kim Killingsworth, Noah Mitz, Christian Hibbard, Marisa Davis, Brandon Davis, Dennis Weiler, Kieran Healy, Joshua Hutchings, and Matt McAdam discussed television lighting from every possible angle, with a new ARRI Alexa digital camera demonstrating the latest in visual technology.

A manufacturers showcase each day comprises lighting gear and media servers for the TV industry from platinum sponsor Elation Professional, and corporate sponsors AC Lighting, A.C.T Lighting, ARRI, Kinetic Lighting, Lee Filters, Oenergy Lighting, PRG, and TMB/Green Hippo. VER provided projection gear for the classes.

Plans are already afoot for the second annual TV Lighting Master Classes next year, same time, same place, as the industry has embraced this boutique event that is both entertaining and educational, while providing networking and personal interaction opportunities. Stay tuned for details.
