Backstage Disney Day December 2, 2011

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure roll out the red carpet for Backstage Disney Day on Friday, December 2, 2011, presented in conjunction with the Live Design's 2011 Concert Master Classes and the LDInstitute On The Road.

This technology-packed 16-hour day, which includes continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner, starts at 7am and runs through 11pm, with the following attractions on the agenda*:

The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure: Technical Overview
The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure is the newest Disney California Adventure attraction. Here you will be guided through the facility to experience the technology that brings the magic of this attraction to life. You will have the opportunity to hear from the individuals who helped bring this show to life as well as take a ride through Ariel’s undersea world.

Backstage Tour of The Hyperion Theater
The Hyperion Theater is home to the current Disney’s Aladdin- A Musical Spectacular. You will tour the theater under the guidance of our technical experts as they discuss audio, lighting, rigging and automation systems for the show. Later in the day you will have an opportunity to experience the show as a guest.

Resort Expansion Preview
Summer 2012 is just around the corner! Get a broad overview of our newest land as we take a unique view of the construction area for Cars Land.

Parade Costuming and Cosmetology
Tour the facility where hundreds of performers prepare for daily parades at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Talk to the cosmetologists who are responsible for the many performance wigs worn throughout the resort.

Parade Float Technology and Parade Route Audio
Disney Theme Parks are known for parades. You will hear from one of the technical directors who will discuss the design and operation of our moving stages featuring floats from Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. You will also hear about the technology of the control rooms that make the parades a special part of the Disney guest experience.

Pyrotechnics at a Disney Theme Park
Here you will experience the technology behind the aerial pyrotechnic displays that have been part of the Disney tradition since 1956. You will tour the launch facility and meet the experts who will demonstrate how it’s done.

ElecTRONica
Enter the interactive digital world of TRON and explore the thrill of this nighttime experience. You will meet with the technical team to discuss the use of video, audio, lighting and lasers that together bring the Hollywood Pictures Backlot to life.

World of Color
Tour the control rooms and experience some of the technology up close. The technical team will demonstrate how the show operates from a technician’s perspective. Conclude the day by experiencing World of Color as a special guest.
