The inaugural World Stage Design, an international exhibition of set, costume, lighting, and sound design, was held in Toronto, Canada, March 12-29, 2005, in conjunction with the OISTAT World Congress and the USITT Conference and Stage Expo. Designers from Mexico took top honors in the costume, set, and lighting categories, while designers from the United States took silver and gold in sound design, as well as silver in lighting design, and bronze in costume design. All bronze medal winners received a check for $500, all silver medal winners received a check for $750, and all gold medal winners received a check for $1,000.
