When it was time to overhaul the sound system at Central Park's Delacorte Theatre, outdoor site of the New York Shakespeare Festival's free summer performances, freelance sound designer Ken Travis was hired. Travis demoed a number of weather-resistant speakers, finally deciding on Community's R.5s. Ten of the weather-resistant R.5s were placed right above the lip of the stage, 20' off the ground, on a cable web system suspended from towers. The two-way R.5s serve as the main vocal ring....Production Arts recently supplied a Pani BP12 Platinum 12K HMI projector with 60cm objective lens to Parkview International for projection onto the northwest chimney of Battersea Power Station. Parkview is promoting its website using the projector; the plan is to construct an urban quarter on the former power station site, with an entertainment complex, restaurants, hotels, a residential area, product showcases, and offices, scheduled to be completed in 2005. The projection is currently the sole form of advertising for the website, which is already getting 10,000 hits a week. A single black-and-white slide sits in the projector, located in a Portacabin 160m (approximately 176 yards) away from the 40m-high (132'-high) chimney. It is displayed between dusk and 2am every evening...For Riverdance's current run on Broadway at the Gershwin, the producers turned to Bruce "Slim" Judd, project manager of Mt. Using the X-Array touring system gave Judd the required left-center-right configuration. In the house, dB Sound installed the Xi-1082 under-balcony compact 8" woofer, in addition to 20 Sx300s. Riverdance also used EV equipment for a second production that toured Ireland, the UK, and Europe....
