Vitec Buys Vega

Pro audio and broadcast communication manufacturer Telex Communications, Inc. has sold the trade, assets, and certain liabilities of the wireless intercom and wireless microphone business of El Monte, CA-based Vega to Vitec Group of Beaconsfield, UK.

John Palleschi, Telex Group VP and president of the speakers and microphones group, says, "It was in the best interest and strategy of the company to sell Vega, the most self-contained of these three businesses. This will now allow us to focus our strengths in these product categories into our core brands of Telex and EV. Since the merger of Telex and EVI Audio, we've managed three brands of wireless mics--Telex, EV, and Vega--and managed two brands of wireless intercom systems--Telex and Vega," he adds. Vega's unrelated signaling products business is being retained and will be combined with Telex's other land mobile product lines.

Vega will continue to manufacture, develop, and market wireless microphones and wireless communication systems from its El Monte facility, and be led by Gary Stanfill as general manager.
