Tyros Take Trinity Rep

What if Lady Sneerwell commissioned her clothes from one top fashion designer, Sir Peter Teazle from another? What if each character in Sheridan's School for Scandal had a personal designer? And what if the artistic director of a leading not-for-profit theatre was daring enough to hire nine costume designers for one show and to trust the first main-stage play of his season to a (largely) tyro artistic team?

Lee Savage, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) 98, designed a runway-inspired set to support costumes for over-the-top characters who use their clothing to compete with one another. Under the supervision of costume designer Marilyn Salvatore and RISD apparel design teacher Donna Gustavsen, nine RISD students worked in teams to design costumes for five major characters. The Trinity Repertory production is directed by Michael Baron, TR Conservatory 99.
