The next Showlight, the once-every-four-years lighting conference, takes place in Munich, Germany, May 21-24, 2005. Showlight 2005 will look at tomorrow's technology, to the ideas and equipment that will take lighting design into the next decade. It will also look back at what has been achieved in the differnt worlds of lighting design. Lighting designers and directors, stage designers, and equipment manufacturers (no sales pitches!) are invited to submit ideas for presentations, from 15 to 45 minutes in length.
Six main topics, including It's my design, how does it work?; Unusual and Special Rigs; and Light Sources, will look at new light sources, optical design and construction techniques. At the heart of every Showlight is the opportunity for delegates and speakers to meet and mingle during lengthy coffee and lunch breaks, as well as during the evening and social events.
ETC has provided generous “seed” money, and a limited number of small stands are available for lighting companies to show their new products. Showlight 2005 also benefits enormously from the generous patronage of the Prinzregententheater and the Bayerische Theaterakademie, the venue has been made available thanks to academy students who attended the previous Showlight event.
