Pulsar
Custom Colors For ChromaStrip2

Part of Pulsar's ChromaRange, the ChromaStrip2 is now available in custom color LED configurations, including white. The custom colors are available in single and triple populations. In the single population, a single LED color is provided at the same intensity as a single channel of the standard RGB ChromaStrip2. This option is cost effective when single-color applications are required at light levels produced by the existing strip. The triple population option provides a single LED color at three times the intensity of a single channel of the standard RGB ChromaStrip2. Pulsar's ChromaZone provides power and single channel dimmable control for both options: up to 3.6m can be driven from each ChromaZone output during single population and up to 1.2m can be driven from each ChromaZone output for the triple population. Custom ChromaStrips need a four-week lead time and are subject to a minimum order of 12 pieces.

Canon
LCD Multimedia Projectors & RE-455X
Visualizer

Canon's new LCD Multimedia Projectors (LV-7245, LV-7240, and LV-X5) provide 2500 ANSI lumens, 2100 ANSI lumens, and 1500 ANSI lumens, respectively. The new projectors have a short throw distance capable of projecting a 100" image from only 9.8' away. With a 400:1 contrast ratio and a high-quality adjustable 1.2x zoom lens, they output high-quality XGA (1024×768) resolution imagery and also support UXGA (1600×1200) and SXGA (1280×1024) resolution through high-quality compression. Versatile display options include Wall Color Correction, seven different surface adjustments (blackboard, light yellow, light green, light blue, sky blue, light rose, and pink), and Automatic Keystone Adjustment, which corrects the image up to +/-30° vertically when the projector is not centered. For faster set up and breakdown, Quick Start allows the projector to be used in about nine seconds and Quick Cooling cools the projector in approximately 30 seconds. Quiet Mode reduces fan noise to only 30dB for the LV-7245 and LV-7240, and 28dB for the LV-X5. Connections include S-Video, Composite, Component (via an optional cable), two VGA input terminals, one VGA output terminal; and audio input and output. Providing the perfect match for this new trio of Multimedia Projectors is Canon's new RE-455X Visualizer, an XGA-resolution document camera built to capture paper-based documents or 3D objects. The Visualizer features One-Shot Autofocus, a 12x power zoom lens for detailed image capture, adjustable twin fluorescent lamps, auto and manual exposure and white balance, and a White Paper mode to optimize the quality of text documents. The RE-455X Visualizer offers an RS-232C terminal for connecting to control systems, and weighs approximately 20.7lbs.

ArKaos
ArKaos VJ 3.5

The latest version of ArKaos' video jockey software, ArKaos VJ 3.5, adds FreeFrame plug-ins support, Firewire video output, a new automation mode, and a new positional effect. Lighting designers can use this software as a media server remote controlled from their lighting console. To accommodate high-end DMX consoles, ArKaos now implements an additional DMX fixture-based control protocol. In this mode the DMX controls are split into several layers, for each of which, pre-assigned parameters allow easy selection and control of visuals and effects. The FreeFrame support enables VJ users to access a vast library of third party effect plug-ins. VJ 3.5 comes with 42 FreeFrame effects. The Firewire connection (Mac & PC) provides real-time video output for the recording of live performance and connection to digital mixers. With the positional effect, users can control the position of visuals on a 3D plane and move it anywhere on the screen through DMX controllers. The application is fully compatible with the latest versions of Mac OS X 10.4.x, Mac OS 9.x, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. The full version of ArKaos VJ 3.5 DMX is available from the website or from the ArKaos distribution network. An evaluation version can be downloaded at www.arkaos.net/vj_dmx/ (21 days, fully functional).

L-Acoustics
Soundvision Venue Database

L-Acoustics has inaugurated the Soundvision Venue Database for its Soundvision 3D sound design program, which operates in real time and is dedicated to the modeling of L-Acoustics products. The Venue Database allows audio engineers to download venue data from the L-Acoustics website (www.l-acoustics.com) and then immediately incorporate their given speaker configuration in the pre-modeled venue. Available only to Soundvision software owners, the database consists of Soundvision.SVS room data files, organized according to venue name, city, and country. L-Acoustics created the Database to give sound designers and touring engineers the ability to share information and obtain more accurate and predictable results with a higher level of overall system performance. Using the Database, system design can be optimized according to the specific venue geometry, allowing sound designers to fine tune system coverage, stereo imaging, and SPL distribution throughout the audience. Physical installation parameters are also determined in advance, allowing for more efficient on-site installation.

Furman Sound
Rack-Mount Power Factor Pro R

Furman Sound's new Power Factor Pro R is an enhanced single-space, rack-mount version of its Power Factor Pro floor/stage power conditioner. The new Power Factor Pro R includes nine outlets and a BNC connector for attaching a 12V rack-illuminating gooseneck lamp. It features Furman's Power Factor Correction technology, which lowers the AC line impedance supplied by wall outlets and reserves a current surplus of over 45A for extreme transient power demands and provides a minimum of 3A of continuous current reserve. Power Factor Correction is coupled with Series Multi-Stage Protection Plus (SMP+), which combines three filtering and protection circuits. Linear Filtering Technology suppresses noise consistently across the entire dynamic range. Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) clamps and dissipates damaging transient voltages without sacrificing itself. Power Factor Pro R's Extreme Voltage Shutdown circuitry protects against accidental connections to 208 or 240VAC by shutting off the incoming power until the overvoltage condition is corrected. The Power Factor Pro R is rated for 12A and has a 20-segment voltmeter that displays the incoming line voltage.
