Artistic Licence Rail-DALI
The latest addition to the range of DIN rail mounting installation products, Rail-DALI, provides a three-way interface for DMX512, RDM (Remote Device Management), and DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface). While functional lighting is increasingly available with a DALI interface, most effects lighting and control systems use DMX512. Rail-DALI solves this problem by allowing a DMX512 source to control DALI lights. It provides four optically isolated DALI outputs, allowing DMX512 to control a total of 256 DALI lights. Multiple products can be linked together for a greater channel count. The product supports the very latest version of DALI by offering bidirectional data flow. Back channel DALI information on light level and fault status is converted to RDM status information; this allows the lighting control system to monitor light status as well as to control intensity.

Design & Drafting released LD Assistant 04.2, a service pack with additional features enabling better communication between Art-NET and the LD show visualizer, for the LD Assistant 04 Autodesk OEM CAD program. Additional communication protocols included in this upgrade service pack are: Pathport Ethernet Net to DMX protocol by Pathway Connectivity, LD_NET USB to DMX protocol by Design & Drafting, and Datagate protocol by ENTTEC. Martin Professional Stage Cyclo
The Stage Cyclo from Martin Professional is a full color mixing luminaire for the stage, studio, and event lighting market. Adapted from Martin Architectural's Cyclo luminaire, Stage Cyclo is specially designed for installation in theatres and television studios and has the flexibility to be hung and re-hung like a touring product. The Stage Cyclo features subtle color changing effects with four 54W high-output fluorescent tubes in red, green, blue, and white. It has a double parabolic louvre reflector for maximum output and even illumination coverage. Its beam angle is approximately 55°. To make the fixture roadworthy, rubber ends have been added and brackets attached on both the ends and the rear of the housing to accept Martin's Omega bracket system. For backlight situations, successive Cyclos can be mounted as close as possible to each other for even distribution of light. For floor mounting, Stage Cyclo comes with built-in retractable legs. XLR connectors have been added to the data section of the fixture, both in 3-pin and 5-pin formats. The Stage Cyclo is directly DMX addressable via a dipswitch panel. Accessories will soon be available for Stage Cyclo, including acrylic covers and manual barndoors.

Meyer Sound Galileo Loudspeaker Management System
Designed to complement Meyer Sound's self-powered loudspeakers, the Galileo loudspeaker management system is a hardware/software system providing all of the facilities required to drive and align sound reinforcement systems employing multiple zones. The system consists of the Galileo 616, a six-input/16-output, 2U, fully digital matrix processor, and Compass™ control software for operation of the Galileo 616 from a remote computer or tablet. The Compass™ software provides a graphical user interface for Galileo's functions, including a System Map, EQ editing, matrix mixing. Galileo 616 can also be controlled directly from its front panel. The Galileo system includes array compensation for M Series array products, presets for a variety of Meyer Sound systems, and digital implementations of features developed for analog processors, including air absorption compensation. The device's six analog inputs are on balanced XLR connectors feeding state-of-the-art A/D converters operating at 24-bit resolution and a 96kHz sample rate. Three of the inputs can be switched to operate as standard stereo AES/EBU digital audio inputs. The 16 outputs offer high-quality D/A converters, allowing the Galileo 616 to drive Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeakers to full output even over long lines. The Galileo 616 is shipping in April 2005.

NEUTRIK® NC**XX SERIES XLR CABLE CONNECTORS
Neutrik is introducing the NC**XX series of XLR cable connectors. The NC**XX series is similar in style to the NP*X series of quarter-inch phone plugs. It will be available in 3 to 7 pole configurations. The compact, die cast shell has internal threads that mate with the external threads on the boot to eliminate the damage sometimes found on exposed threads. The NC**XX series still incorporates Neutrik's chuck-type strain relief and will provide color-coding on the boot. Additionally, the cable connectors feature female cage-type contact designed to increase conductivity and reduce wear of the male contacts and a new ground contact for better integrity between the chassis and cable connectors.

The Installation Series is the first complete line of sound reinforcement speaker products from the Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems Division, developed by Audio Composite Engineering (ACE), acoustic engineer Michael Adams, and legendary speaker engineer Akira Nakamura. A total of 19 models, with integrated enclosures, hardware, components, and crossover networks, have been engineered to the requirements of the medium-to-large scale touring and integration markets and will be available in June 2005. Installation Series models include: 12" and 15" full range 2- and 3-way loudspeakers, horn loaded mid/high loudspeakers, single and dual 8" 2-way loudspeakers, a dual 5" full range, plus single and dual 15" and 18" subwoofers. Cabinets can be stacked, arrayed, or hung, and can also be used as floor monitors. Uniform phase response enables users to mix and match the series speakers without hot spots and dead areas due to interference and cancellation. Connections include a barrier strip and dual Neutrik NL4 connectors (3-way models include Neutrik NL8 connectors). A mode selector switch offers a choice of bi-amp, (passive) single-amp, tri-amp, parallel or discrete operation.

Zero 88 Lighting Frog 2 Console
Designed to be used in demanding lighting control environments, the Frog 2 console provides users with ease of programming, comprehensive playback choices, live busking, and theatrical or stand alone control of architectural events. Frog 2 runs up to eight universes: four via DMX or up to eight via Ethernet (Artnet). The facilities needed for future RDM and ACN compatibility are included. For effective control, Frog 2 offers multiple cue stack playback, comprehensive palette selections, and effects libraries. For busking in live environments, user definable buttons and faders can be assigned to control anything from a single channel to a group of fixtures to a complete memory. Using macros these controls can be loaded from a memory or from a cue stack, or allow users to automate the programming and playback of shows. The two monitors and an onboard touchscreen allow multiple screens to be displayed simultaneously. Users can also define specific views best suited to their needs. There are three USB ports, and storing shows is possible on either a USB memory stick or using the built-in CD writer.

Midas Siena console
Midas launched the 16-send Siena console, a highly configurable console that can double as both a monitor and a FOH console. Siena is designed to appeal to monitor engineers, as it is a console that can handle in-ear monitors. Available in six frame sizes, from 24 to 64 channels, Siena features 16 dedicated aux sends that can be configured as stereo pairs if required. It features high stability, low-noise mike preamps and a four-band EQ section (based on the industry-standard XL4). Other features include Midas' solo tracking system that allows the solo outputs to be shown on the Klark Teknik Helix digital EQ system, switchable insert points on all outputs, internal dual redundant power supplies, and accurate long-throw output metering.

Soundcraft GB8
Soundcraft introduced the eight-bus GB8 to its GB Series. Available in frame sizes from 16 to 48 mono channels, each with four full-function stereo channels and four stereo returns, the new GB8 is ideal for performance venues, fixed installations, and regional touring sound systems. The GB8's dual-mode topology allows it to be adeptly employed for FOH or monitor duties, with fader control of group or aux outputs. The console also features an output matrix with 11 feeds to four outputs, being fed from the eight group busses and main L, R, and C (mono) outputs. The steel chassis has a sloping rear connector panel for easy configuration from the front of the desk, while the integral power supply has a link option for an external backup PSU. All input modules have been constructed with individually mounted PCBs fitted to the front panel with individually nutted potentiometers.
