PLASA offers UK export boost

PLASA (the Professional Lighting and Sound Association), in conjunction with British Trade International (BTI), will be conducting an extensive program of government-funded overseas trade missionsand other events aimed at boosting UK export trade during 2000. The program is part of PLASA's initiative to provide export assistance to the UK entertainment technology industry.

PLASA is organizing exhibitor groups to international trade exhibitions. These include SIEL in Paris, France (February 6-9), Entech in Sydney, Australia (March 5-7), SIB International in Rimini, Italy (March 26-29), PLASA Shanghai in China (June 7-9), and Expomusic in Sao Paulo, Brazil (August 30-September 2).

Besides the exhibitor groups, which are available to all UK companies, PLASA will also be conducting Brochure Groups at other exhibitions. These offer members of PLASA, both UK and international, the opportunity to have brochures or other literature displayed on the PLASA stand, for little more than the cost of freight and duties. PLASA then presents each participating company with a detailed database of contacts made at the exhibition, along with a market appraisal report. Details of available PLASA Brochure Groups will be announced in the near future.

In 1998, PLASA hosted four overseas exhibitor groups and two Brochure Groups, generating a total of more than 1.5 million British Pounds ($2.4 million US) of projected orders for the 77 participating companies, who received a total of more than 180,000 British Pounds ($291,000 us) in government grants.
