NYU in Spring

A New Crop of Design Grads Display Their Work

May again, and time for New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Department of Design for Stage and Film annual design show. This year, the exhibit will feature the work of 19 graduating students in set, lighting, and costume design.

The gallery-style show will begin with an opening reception on Tuesday, May 1, from 5-8pm. The students will also be present at an additional session on Saturday, May 5, from 2-5pm. The show runs May 2-9, with open daily viewings from 12-8pm. On display will be designs for realized productions and studio projects for theatre, film, and dance, in a wide variety of media. Guests will see production photos, scale models, drafts, paintings, costume sketches, film clips, and costumes. The works represented are collaborations between NYU designers and members of the Tisch departments of Graduate Acting, Dance, Undergraduate Drama, and Film, as well as productions from other schools, Off Broadway, and beyond.

The Tisch School of Design will continue its tradition of honoring theatrical professionals/educators with a salute to Leigh Rand Jenkins, who taught modelmaking and drafting in the department for 10 years.

The 2001 design show will be at the Tisch School of the Arts Department of Design for Stage and Film, 721 Broadway (between Waverly and Washington Places), on the third floor. Admission is free; the exhibit is open to the public. For more information, call (212) 998-1950.
