LECTROSONICS, INC. VENUE RECEIVER

Lectrosonics' Venue Receiver is a modular 1RU rack mount configuration designed for live sound, theatre, sound reinforcement, and location recording. The unit's modular configuration allows up to six different receivers to share the resources of a common host assembly, including an antenna multi-coupler, DSP, and computer interface. The graphical LCD interface provides full control of all features and functions; it indicates real time RF and audio levels, plus frequencies for all six receivers simultaneously. Each receiver can be controlled with individual setup and monitoring screens on the LCD. The Venue has a built-in RF spectrum analyzer that is designed to assess spectrum congestion and identify clear operating frequencies. USB and RS-232 serial interfaces provide monitoring, operation, and control through the software included with the Venue. For expanded multi-channel wireless systems, the Venue has antenna “loop through” connections that stack multiple units. The Venue is part of the Digital Hybrid Wireless series and merges digital and analog technologies to provide 24-bit digital audio quality and an optimized analog RF link (U.S. Patent Pending). When operating in the Hybrid mode, this DSP-based system eliminates a compandor and its artifacts for extremely low distortion and noise and has an outstanding signal-to-noise ratio. The DSP can also emulate the analog compandors in several older wireless systems for backward compatibility.

Klark Teknik PC Remote Control for Helix

The new PC remote control for the Helix DN9340 digital equalization system is the latest add-in to the ELGAR software control shell developed for Klark Teknik and Midas products. The PC controller is designed to make the Helix system easier to operate and program. The remote control mirrors the operation of the units, allowing instant and simultaneous online control of up to 64 channels of EQ from a laptop, tablet computer, or compatible device. This enables the engineer to set up the system from an optimum listening position rather than in front of the units — a benefit for initial system equalization. For added flexibility, additional alterations can be made from the PC or the units themselves. The “FastNav” feature allows access to any function of any channel with just two clicks of a button. The homepage provides a composite view of the overall operation of any channel, and full real time metering is available for all channels. The software is available now as a free download from the company website: www.klarkteknik.com.

Vista Systems Spyder 200 and 300 Series

The new Spyder product line offers producers of audio-visual presentations and rental and staging companies real time compositing and windowing environment, with the same image quality and processing capabilities for which Vista Systems' Montage is known. With similar features of the Montage but at a reduced price, the Spyder products make video processing accessible to a wider variety of events. The Spyder 200 and 300 series build on the Montage system introduced last year, which creates “virtual displays” inside the system processor at higher resolutions than any single display device can handle.

The Spyder 200 and 300 series each feature five different models; users can integrate any model from the 200 series with the 300 series to create larger systems that accommodate any size application, including support for the 2048×1080 projectors and edge-blending. The Spyder series offers users flexibility with its performance as well. It is capable of handling high-resolution HD-SDI and DVI formats. The Spyder products have a 10-bit processing path including A/D, D/A, scaling, motion adaptive de-interlacing and output formatting (if supported by the output standard).

With a total pixel space of 6 million, the Spyder products store up to 100 image files. These files can be used as background images for large pixel spaces and single output backgrounds for letterboxing purposes. Image files can also be loaded to an input channel so any input channel can operate as a full-featured still store and frame-grabber. All windowing products support borders, shadows, smooth window motion, and most Montage-based functions. The five models in the Spyder 200 series feature a maximum of 4 I/Os, while the Spyder 300 series features a maximum of 8 I/Os; each model has various I/O processors.

The output format is user selectable, and all applicable connectors for the user-selected format will be active simultaneously. Products in the Spyder line incorporate an integrated user interface that allow for all control and set up functions. External control is also provided via RS-232 and 100BaseT Ethernet.

Arkaos KaosBox III

The KaosBox III is a visual synthesizer that generates and controls large-screen visual shows for major venues, concerts, and events. The synthesizer triggers and mixes multiple video or image sources, adds and controls sophisticated effects, and monitors inputs and outputs. All components are integrated and the software optimized to the CPU and graphic acceleration board, allowing a great number of video streams and images to be manipulated and processed in real time without losing image quality. Using the KaosBox III, four video input streams can be employed at the same time, and the amount of layers that can be used at the same time is seemingly endless. The synthesizer comes with over 60 effects and filters pre-installed. The unit was rigidly constructed to suit demanding event environments and has a crash-proof PC with a built-in reserve power supply. By integrating a professional mixer, a visual sampler with an advanced effect generator, multi-monitoring, and numerous I/Os into one piece of equipment and only 45 kg, it reduces the hassle of transport and installation and is suitable for both the novice light operator and the progressive visual artist.

Its fully customizable control panel enables easy and direct manipulation of effects and inputs with buttons, sliders, and joysticks. The user also has complete control of the inboard computer and hard-drive with the trackball and PC keyboard. Users can view three preview monitors and have a view of input and output. The KaosBox III has an ArKaos software video effects engine, running on internal PC. Built in PC connections include Ethernet, MIDI,USB, Firewire, and PCI slots are available for further extension. The internal data path is 24 bits, 800×600 pixels, and 60 Hz progressive.

Martin Architectural Power Switch Pack: PSP-12

Martin introduces a convenient new tool for power distribution: an intelligent mobile switch pack useful wherever DMX power control of a complete installation is needed. The Martin PSP-12 gives users easy DMX control of interior and exterior light sources and many other devices. Completely DMX512 compliant, the PSP-12 is a reliable and time-saving way to control your power installation. Using high-quality power relays, the PSP-12 will reduce installation costs. Individual circuit breakers, one on each output, protect your installation against short circuits and overloads. The PSP-12 has a Bypass Safety Switch that allows manual control of all outputs, and the DMX address switch is selectable using the pole DIP switches. The DMX protocol gives individual control of all output channels. A high-power output of 2300W (230V) on each channel makes it possible to connect nearly any device. Multiple devices can also be connected to the same output with the status of each output clearly indicated by the PSP-12's LED indicators. This industrial grade product will operate for many years, and will enable upgrades to existing systems or the install of cutting edge intelligent power installations. The PSP-12 is perfect for installation in shops, showrooms, shopping malls, venues, and offices.
