On the move at Barbizon

Barbizon has announced two new appointments in its New York and Denver offices. In New York, John Gebbie steps in as manager of the systems division for Barbizon Electric while Troy Starr joins the company's Denver office as systems integration and show control specialist for Barbizon Lighting.

Working out of Barbizon's Manhattan headquarters, Gebbie will oversee all phases of that office's systems integration, project management, and technical services. Formerly lead project manager for the New York office, Gebbie's experience includes field-coordinating the Universal CityWalk project in Orlando, and the Roundabout Theatre and the Hayden Planetarium in New York. Prior to coming to Barbizon, he served as technical specialist for Strand Lighting.

A veteran of the lighting industry, Starr joins Barbizon after working as dimming product manager for Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC). In his previous position at ETC, Starr supervised the development of the ELTS emergency transfer system, GFI/RCD dimming products, and Sensor 3.0 software.

Before working at ETC, Starr was employed by Light & Sound Design (LSD) in Newbury Park, CA, where he managed the emergency technical services for the Icon(R) control system. At LSD, he also implemented the integration of video, audio, and lighting at Centennial Olympic Park during the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, provided technical support for many musical acts served by LSD, and developed a custom MIDI show control for the Grateful Dead using musical information to enhance the control of lighting.
