Gerald Fleischer, CLC, of Hermitage Lighting Gallery of Nashville, TN, has been inducted into the Lighting Hall of Fame sponsored by the Dallas-based American Lighting Association (ALA). He is the owner and former president of Hermitage, which he purchased in 1965.
After 36 years with the Lithonia Lighting Group, Jim H. McClung, its chairman and CEO, retired on December 31, 2000. Annual sales have grown from $22 million in 1964 (his first year) to $1.5 billion in its last fiscal year, making it the largest fixture maker in the world. His CEO position will remain open indefinitely.
Michael Northen, the 79-year-old British lighting designer, was on the New Year's Honors List as announced by Queen Elizabeth of England. Northen, one of the first in England to receive credit as an LD, became an MBE or Member of the British Empire, so honored for his longtime service to the lighting profession. Northen is also a founding member of the ALD, the UK-based Association of Lighting Designers, and is the current president of the organization.
Martin Professional has appointed Claus Rothmann as director of logistics. He will form part of Martin's management team alongside sales and marketing director Pio Nahum and R&D director Stig Poulsen. The management board remains unchanged and consists of CEO and president Kristian Kolding, who relinquishes the logistics responsibility, Lars Dige (finance), and Torben Johansen (production).
After 23 years, president and founding partner Bob Schacherl has resigned from High End Systems. Sean Hoey, sales manager for North America, will assume responsibility for Latin America, supported by Tony Magana. John Wiseman, vice president of special projects, will continue management of European sales and assume responsibility for the Asian, Middle East, and African territories supported by J.R. Chai and LeighAnne Aiken.
