Martin Lays Foundation Stone for New Factory

The official laying of the foundation stone for Martin Professional's new manufacturing facility took place at noon on Friday, February 15, in Frederikshavn, Denmark, with a host of top Martin personnel and local dignitaries taking part.

The ultra-modern 12,500-sq.-m (139,000 sq. ft.), $20 million factory is slated for completion in August of this year. Upon completion, Martin will effectively double its production capacity for the manufacture of automated lighting. Martin's current production facility, also located in Frederikshavn, will continue operation.

The person responsible for overseeing and managing the new facility is factory manager Thomas Raunsbaek, who commented, “The new Martin factory has been designed as a high-tech production facility with an open and modern architectural look that is complementary to our industry. Besides adding to our manufacturing capacity, the factory will incorporate a wide range of new capabilities such as a new manufacturing and logistics setup that will insure a high level of delivery performance. New innovative technology will set new standards in inventory management and productivity.”

Other ceremony attendees included over 250 of Martin's own employees, as well as project contractors KPC Byg Vest A/S, architectural firm Aarhus Arkitekterne, engineering company Carl Bro A/S, advisers Bascon A/S (building) and T.U. Langebæk (production equipment) and representatives from the municipal government.
