London musicals tune up

The spring season in London is filled with new musical productions. Hugh Vanstone is lighting and designing the set for a touring production of Godspell to start in Liverpool, England, in February. The show should come to the West End later in the year.

In June 2002 Bombay Dreams will replace Starlight Express at the Apollo Victoria, which closes in January 2002. The director is Steven Pimlot, set designer is Mark Thompson, lighting designer is Hugh Vanstone, and Andy Voller will be lighting programmer.

A musical of the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will open next year at the London Palladium with lighting by Mark Henderson and set design by Anthony Ward. Programmer will be Stuart Porter.

Currently, Trevor Nunn has staged South Pacific at the Royal National Theatre, with lighting by David Hersey.
