The Electric Show Announces Conference Topics

Thousands of electrical industry professionals will descend on the nation's capital June 10-12 for The Electric Show. The 18th annual Electrical Exposition and Conference will take place at the new Washington, DC, Convention Center. The show is sponsored by EC&M, Electrical Wholesaling, Lighting Dimensions, and Transmission & Distribution World magazines.

The Electric Show will consist of four pre-conference workshops presented on June 9, and 42 conference sessions and three intensive spotlight sessions will be held during the exposition itself. Pre-conference workshops will address topics such as Power Quality Troubleshooting with Handheld Test Tools; Battery Maintenance and Testing; Commercial and Industrial Lighting Workshop for Engineers, Contractors, and Distributors; and Low Voltage Ground Fault Protection. The conference sessions are set on six tracks of special interest to electrical professionals: Contracting and Engineering, Focus on Business, Facilities and Maintenance, Industrial Lighting, Practical Methods, and Power Quality.

More intensive instruction will be provided by the spotlight sessions presented June 10-11. The BICSI Installation Series will deliver Telecommunications Bonding and Grounding Infrastructure for Commercial Buildings and Customer-Owned Outside Plants, a two-day seminar. Continuing Educational Units can be earned by attending Understanding and Applying the National Electrical Code and Grounding and Bonding: Understanding the 2002 National Electrical Code, both presented by industry authority Mike Holt.

The Thursday morning general session will be the popular Code Violations, in which EC&M contributor Joe Tedesco reveals and explains some of the most interesting electrical troublespots that will amaze and confound even the most seasoned industry pro.

Meanwhile, more than 200 of the electrical industry's top companies will present their latest innovations, products, and service improvements in the exhibit hall. Many of the exhibiting companies will be offering show specials, products and services discounted only during The Electric Show.
