Lee Filters 700 Series

The 700 series
A range of lighting filters created by some of the top designers in stage, screen and architectural lighting.

Lighting designers always have a color in mind. Whether it is to create a romantic moonlit setting or a fiery backdrop, they know which colors they need to achieve their desired effect. Even though LEE Filters has over 250 colors in their lighting filter range, designers often feel that the existing colors available to them are not quite right for the effect that they have in mind. In 1998, LEE decided to help solve this problem by offering lighting designers a unique opportunity to turn their ideas into realities.

Over the last 9 years, 15 leading lighting designers have been invited to the LEE Filters factory to create their own unique colors. The 700 Series of lighting filters is a direct result of the work undertaken by these designers at LEE's facilities in the U.K.

Within the course of a day, each designer is able to create new colors to solve a problem or create a specific mood or effect. Working closely with LEE's research & development team they take their ideas forward by mixing & blending, producing the samples for testing and field trials, and fine tuning each color until they had achieved exactly the effect they wanted. The colors were then named by the designer and added to the 700 series following a very stringent quality control process.

Lighting designers who have created colors include:

Peter Barnes, Chris Davey, Dave Davey, Chris Ellis, Rick Fisher, Henrik Hambro, Mark Henderson, David Hersey, Jakob Holst, Jesper Kongshaug, Andy Liddle,

Durham Marenghi, David Whitehead, Kate Wilkins & Patrick Woodroffe.

The 700 series of exclusive colors has expanded to an impressive 61 to date and will, no doubt, continue to grow.
