Prolight + Sound 2006 to Focus on Media Technology

LDI Partner Prolight + Sound Spotlighting Technology For Arenas and Multi-Purpose Halls "Creating emotions" is the motto of Prolight + Sound at Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre from March 29 to April 1, 2006. Over these four days, the international trade fair will bring together the fields of event and communication technology, audio visual production, and entertainment to create the world's biggest meeting place for the sector.

"The fields of media technology and system integration are gaining continuously in significance at Prolight + Sound and, in line with this positive trend, the Media Systems trade fair is developing accordingly within the framework of Prolight + Sound", explains Jürgen Kupzcik, Prolight + Sound event manager. "Accordingly, we are providing a separate area for Prolight + Sound Media Systems, where manufacturers and suppliers can make presentations relating to the subject of media technology and system integration."

The new area will be in Hall 8.0. Here, exhibitors will present products and services from, inter alia, the fields of security and communication technology for multi-purpose halls, arenas, conference centres and shopping malls whereby one of the focal points will be media installations, e.g., for event halls and public rooms.

The product groups of Prolight + Sound will be located in the exhibition halls as follows: Hall 4.1 with mobile PA systems, microphones and effects; Hall 8.0 with live sound, permanent installations, studio technology, theatre, studio and stage lighting, stage equipment and traverse systems, media technology, system integration, and communication technology; and Hall 9.0 with show and stage lighting, facilities for commercial premises, lasers, and effects.

Additionally, two prizes will bring the attention of the specialist world and the public to special achievements in the sector. "Opus - German Stage Prize" will be awarded in recognition of technical and design achievements in set design and construction for the fifth time while "Sinus - Systems Integration Award" will be presented for achievements in the field of media technology and system integration for the third time.

Held parallel to the trade fair, Prolight + Sound Media Systems Congress--formerly CAVIS--will spotlight the subject of multi-purpose halls and arenas. With around 40 lectures, the congress is the biggest information event at Prolight + Sound. Held in the conference area of Hall 9.T, it is open to trade visitors free of charge. Some of the topics to be covered:

- Large-scale public-address systems for arenas - An overview of the technical and organizational opportunities at big events - Standards, norms and directives - Networks and security systems

The congress will be supplemented by a series of seminars for people working in the event-technology segment, a job bourse for situations vacant and job hunters, and the Prolight + Sound Studio with workshops on audio and video production.

Prolight + Sound is the world's biggest international trade fair for audio, lighting, event, and communication technology. Around 22,000 trade visitors from the fields of audio and studio technology, lighting design, event planning and design attended the last event in Frankfurt am Main in April 2005. Prolight + Sound is held parallel to the Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound visitors have free admission to the International Trade Fair for Musical Instruments, Music Software & Computer Hardware, Sheet Music and Accessories.

Prolight + Sound is supported by the Professional Lighting & Sound Association of Germany (Verband für Licht-, Ton- und Veranstaltungs-technik - VPLT) and the European Association of Event Centers (Europäischer Verband der Veranstaltungs-Centren - EVVC).
