New to LDI this year is a special event, LDI: Live Outside, which combines demos and training, in real-time, of a concert stage set-up in a non-permanent location. This includes educational opportunities on technology and products you need to produce dynamic and fully immersive events.
Taking place in the silver parking lot in the front of the Las Vegas Convention Center, Live Outside is dedicated to the design, technology, and safety considerations for outdoor events and festivals in a non-permanent concert setting. The non-profit association, Event Safety Alliance (ESA), has teamed up with LDI to present a series of four, one-hour sessions covering the essentials of safety, evacuation, and important weather decisions.
Live Outside and the ESA sessions are open and free to all LDI attendees. Sessions include:
Friday October 21, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Raising the bar of preparedness in the face of event disruption, the now-global Event Safety Alliance is actively developing needs-based learning opportunities in an effort to establish a universal safety framework for all who work in the live event space, forging the path to a safer professional community and guest experience.
Disruption: Safe Evacuation & Restoration of Event Facilities (“The Calm Before the Storm v. the Storm During the Storm”)
Friday October 21, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
What is an effective evacuation plan? What are the benchmarks of an effective evacuation plan? What determines an evacuation? Who makes the decision to evacuate? What is "safe shelter"? What must happen before restoring after a disruption? What are the common communication protocols?
Saturday October 22, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
When it comes to weather, today's event producers and supply chain providers can no longer rely on "luck." Having an effective and executable severe weather action plan is quickly becoming an industry expectation and a legal duty of care. Technology innovators guided by a robust subject matter expert group are providing tools and learning opportunities that simplify the process of creating a "show-go" decision matrix, while augmenting currently utilized now-casting tools with specialized forecasting services has become the new gold standard to which we should all aspire.
Alive and Well at Live Events: The Importance of Event Medical Services
Saturday October 22, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
You work hard to ensure the health and safety of your guests and crew. But when something goes wrong, seconds and experience matters. Utilizing specialized event medical services on site can often make the difference between life and death.
Live Outside is capped off with the official LDI Attendee party and a special musical performance in the form of a VJ rave and competition. All LDI badge holders can attend the Live Outside event, and attendees can purchase a VIP upgrade, allowing them to access the outdoor VIP lounge.
