United Scenic Artists Calls For Meeting To Discuss Representation Of Projection Designers

United Scenic Artists Local 829 has called for a meeting to discuss the possibility of representing projection designers. The meeting, to be held at the USA829 offices in NYC on Monday April 23, will be an open discussion between working projection designers and union representatives.

An autonomous local of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), USA829 currently represents scenic, lighting, costume, and sound designers working in theatre. In addition to creating standards for minimum payments and royalties, the entertainment labor union also offers health benefits and pension programs for its members. Although IATSE currently represents projection programmers, no union represents projection designers.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the subject with a wider group to ascertain what level of support exists. The meeting is open to all regardless of whether you think this is a good or a bad idea, or if you just want to find out what it is all about.

If you are a projection designer in the New York area and are interested and available to attend the meeting, please email me at: [email protected]
