ETC Eos™ Lighting Control System Now Shipping

Right on the heels of its award LDI 2006 for Best Debuting Product of the Year, ETC’s Eos™ lighting control system has officially begun shipping in North America. ETC reports that the orders are high for the new flagship system in their Complete Control™ line-up.

Designed to control the most complex, multimedia-filled lighting rigs, Eos is already being specified for performing arts centers, theatres, universities, TV studios, churches, and comparable sites. The first venue to own Eos is the new Segerstrom Hall at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, in Costa Mesa, CA, which has been using an Eos console since the debut of the Hall in September. The Eos has already handled several OCPAC productions, from classical symphony like the New York Philharmonic and the Kirov Orchestra to the Philippine Dance Company, Bayanihan Dance Company, to comedian Kathy Griffin, and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra.

Says Kathy Halvorson, console programmer at OCPAC, “I like the way Eos blends the fixed and moving lights into an environment that both can coexist. And the console has been very easy for me to get a grasp on—especially with the support of everyone at ETC. Any questions, problems or concerns are addressed quickly and in a timely manner.”

Eos combines a familiar ETC operational style and syntax with boldly innovative features and functionality in a powerful system fully networked for ETCNet2™ and the new Net3™ protocol (powered by the new ESTA ACN standard). Eos is also unique in offering features tailored to the needs of each member of the design and production team. Programmers, designers, electricians, and others in the team access special Eos tools for working faster and more efficiently. Eos is available in two models: Eos 8K (supports 8000 outputs) and Eos 4K (supports 4000 outputs), with powerful accessories to further enhance and streamline production work.

Among other first venues receiving Eos are the famed Tabernacle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre, and San Francisco’s ACT Geary Theatre, as well Texas Tech, Middle Tennessee State, and Penn State universities.
