Elation Introduces EWDMX System

Elation has brought DMX control into the wireless realm with the introduction of the EWDMX system. Consisting of a transmitter and one or more receivers, the wireless DMX control system completely eliminates the need for DMX cables at a range of up to 3,000’—more than half a mile.

The EWDMXT wireless transmitter connects to a DMX-512 controller via 3-pin or 5-pin XLR plugs. The transmitter sends all DMX data from the controller to the EWDMXR wireless receiver, which can be linked via XLR directly into the first light fixture in the DMX daisy chain. One EWDMXT transmitter can be used with up to 1,000 EWDMXR receivers, so users can easily expand or slim down their wireless DMX control systems to fit virtually any lighting setup.

Thanks to its advanced Adaptive Frequency Hopping Technology (FHSS), the EWDMX system will perform reliably and consistently, maintaining a clear, robust DMX signal, even in environments where other wireless products are being used. This is because, using FHSS, the system changes frequencies up to 1,000 times per second, jumping to channels that are not in use by other wireless systems or products on the 2.45 GHz band. Together with Time Division Multiple Access, this technology guarantees users of completely interference-free operation. The wireless technology used by the EWDMX system was invented by the US Army and is reliable enough to be used in the GSM networks as well.

“People are amazed at how reliably and flawlessly the EWDMX system operates when they see it in action,” says Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional. “The EWDMX system was recently used at the 2007 InfoComm Awards Ceremony, and even though there were 10 wireless microphones in the room, the DMX signal remained strong, clear, and uninterrupted.

“And since the system has full 512-channel DMX capability, it’s capable of doing anything that you can do with your regular DMX light board,” adds Loader.

The EWDMXT wireless transmitter and EWDMXR wireless receiver come with mounting brackets and safety cables for easy installation on lighting truss or in the lighting control area. Each includes a User Manual to get lighting operators up and running with the system in a snap. A 120V power supply comes with each unit.

The EWDMXT wireless transmitter measures 5”x6.5”x1.5” and weighs 1.6 lbs. EWDMXR wireless receiver also measures 5”x6.5”x1.5” and weighs 1.6 lbs.
