Tools of the Trade: d&b audiotechnik Ti Series

The new Ti-Series from d&b audiotechnik is targeted to fixed installation use, starting with the Ti10L line array loudspeaker, the Ti10P for point source use, and the Ti subwoofer. Both Ti10s are passive two-way units that house two 6.5" drivers and 1.4" exit HF compression drivers, and have the same dimensions (18.5"x7.8"x11.8"). They combine a rotatable horn and an acoustic lens within the grill assembly. The HF driver is fitted to a waveguide horn, producing vertical line source directivity with a 90° horizontal pattern; the acoustic lens widens this to 105° for line array applications. The Ti10L maintains horizontal constant directivity down to approximately 600Hz, and the Ti10P loudspeaker features vertical directivity control extending approximately one octave lower than similarly sized biaxial loudspeakers.

The Ti-SUB shares the same width and rigging hardware as the Ti10L for deployment either flown at the top of a Ti10L array or as a separate column. It can also be ground-stacked. It increases low-frequency headroom and extends the bandwidth of a Ti10 to 47Hz. The bass-reflex design utilizes a high-excursion 15" driver with a neodymium magnet assembly and employs d&b SenseDrive technology when driven by the D12 amplifier. Specifiers can color-coordinate the system and rigging to suit the environment.
