The Apex system from Kinesys is a variable speed chain hoist control solution that is compliant with EN61508-SIL3 and DIN56950, and features sub-millimeter precision, zero speed hover, silent brakes, intelligent duty cycle management, and realtime data logging. Safety-over-Ethernet technology also allows data to be daisy-chained through the drives using standard Ethercon cabling, reducing cable runs. Custom power distribution is not required. SIL3 monitoring of speed, ramps, load, position, and brakes means that any application can be supported, and when working with Mentor 4 controllers, groups of hoists can be assigned and protected at a SIL3 level. The intelligent duty cycle management feature monitors in realtime the remaining run time available on the hoist based on temperature, speed, and weight, and the hoist logs key usage data. The hoists come in 500kg (1,200lb) and 1,250kg (2,750lb) options, with maximum speeds of 500mm/s (100’/min) and 200mm/s (40’/min), respectively.
