5 Star Thinks Again

5 Star Cases has supplied a whole range of flight-cases to recently launched Newmarket-based Think AV.

The B2B provider of professional AV and technical services contacted 5 Star after a personal recommendation and has recently taken delivery of a series of cases and trunks.

A variety of cases were required by Think to house all aspects of their equipment. An audio kit included Soundcraft GB consoles and Sennheiser radio mic racks; on the lighting side they needed trunks for ETC Source 4 Zoom fixtures and there were also several Christie LX video projectors needing cases.

The case types were picked from 5 Star’s Lite-Flite range, through to the popular Super Tour, all of which were supplied in a smart green high-pressure laminate (HPL), incorporating the Think AV logo, screen printed in-house at 5 Star.

Various 19” rack systems were also supplied by 5 Star for outboard processing and amplification.

Think AV made use of 5 Star’s increasingly popular CNC machined foam inserts, which are invaluable for 19” rack drawers containing microphones and other delicate equipment. These inserts are fabricated from polyethylene foam blocks using either of the two Thermwood CNC machining centres. The geometry required is usually produced by 5 Star’s CAD department and modeled directly from the equipment to ensure precise fitting. However, if that’s not practical, 5 Star can also work from a wide range of drawing formats including dxf, dwg, and raw 3D files as supplied by the client.

Think AV was founded in June 2006 is and is run by Tom Gawthrop and Harry Waugh, both experienced practitioners in the world of professional AV. Offering an extensive range of equipment, Think supplies events, seminars, conferences and launches of all types with technical services including sound, lighting, projection, graphics I.T. and set design. Clients include Ernst & Young, the British Geriatric Society and Cambridge Online Systems.
