Dataton AB, the Swedish developer and manufacturer of show control and presentation systems, is pleased to sponsor the 2005 EDDY Award to Steve Ryan, technical director at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, for sustained achievement in technical director. Charles MacKay, general director of the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, will present the EDDY to Ryan.
Ryan worked closely with Dave Branson of Show Sage LLC, (www.showsage.com) the North American distributor for Dataton's products, including Watchout, for last season's revival of John Adams' opera, Nixon in China, with video design by Wendall K. Harrington. Watchout is a multi-display production and presentation system that provides previously unattainable image quality and resolution. Based on standard computers, network and display technologies, Dataton Watchout can be used with plasmas, monitors, or video cubes to build a unique presentation set, or with video projectors for giant, seamless panoramas.
The 2005 EDDY Awards will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York City. More information on all of this year's EDDY winners can be found here.
