AV Concepts supplied a Musion® Eyeliner™ 3D Holographic Projection System setup during the first weekend of Coachella that allowed a life-sized 3D Tupac to perform with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg (check out the video below).
The creative and technical team included production designer Demfis Fyssicopulos, video programmer Matt Shimamoto, and media server tech Loren Barton. Lighting was programmed by Brian Jenkins.
The "Pepper's Ghost" effect employed AV Concepts' proprietary Liquid Scenic media server and Christie Digital HD projectors delivering three stacked 1,920x1,080 images at 54,000 lumens. Digital Domain Productions supplied the content.
In addition to the hologram effect, four Genlocked Green Hippo Hippotizer HD i7 servers delivered content to WinVision 12 screens from VER on the upstage wall and risers. Lighthouse Technologies VideoBlades 12 from Screenworks NEP comprised the side screens. Automation was by Show Distribution.
