Coemar Infinity Wash XLs Light R.E.M.

For the R.E.M. tour launched this past May in Vancouver, lighting designer/director/programmer Susanne Sasic brought Coemar Infinity Wash XL lights into brilliant interplay as support of the band’s latest album, Accelerate, continues.

Designing a frame of lights around a set of five Mitrix video screens plus two soft LED panels, Sasic set out to create a “skyline” of video which forms the centerpiece of her basic design. Infinity Wash XL lights, 1400w with a full range of features including a CMY color mixing system and an entire spectrum of effects, seemed perfectly targeted toward this latest succession of concerts presented by the Athens, GA-based legendary alternative rock ensemble.

“We have big, bold strokes of color framing the video,” explains Sasic. “Five Infinitys are on side trusses and two are on the floor, with more fixtures to be added for the European leg which takes us through most of the fall, after which come more U.S. dates.”

Sasic, who is relying on a grandMA for programming, is truly impressed with the Infinitys’ dynamic performance. “They’re very bright, the color mixing is great,” she insists, “and there is even more than one shade of green. Being able to get true shades of red and green is something I haven’t been able to find in other moving lights.”

Boasting a 6-80 degree zoom, pan/tilt, full-range dimming and index-able beam shaping in 360 degrees, Coemar Infinity Wash XL lights are proving themselves indispensable for the tour from Sasic’s perspective. “I absolutely love them!” she attests.
