CHAUVET® Professional to Show New Fixtures at Prolight + Sound 2014

SUNRISE, Fla. — LED wash fixtures, powerful and versatile LED moving head lights and an easy-setup pixel mapping display system are among the products that will take center spotlight on the world stage at Prolight + Sound 2014, held in Frankfurt, Germany, March 12-15. CHAUVET Professional will be represented in stand 34, Hall 11 by an array of luminaires, like new additions to the Nexus™ line with Nexus Aq 5X5 and Nexus Aw 7X7 narrow beam panels, ÉPIX Bar 2.0 and ÉPIX Strip 2.0 pixel-mapping fixtures, Legend 330SR Spot powerful moving yokes, Legend 412Z moving head wash fixtures and more. Additionally, Chauvet introduces a new line, Rogue, which debuts with powerful and feature-packed spot and beam fixtures that bring great value and performance.

CHAUVET Professional is also making it easier for “non-technical” users to create professional video and pixel-mapping displays with its groundbreaking ÉPIX™ Series. Included are two one-meter linear tri-color LED fixtures that work together seamlessly — the ÉPIX Bar 2.0 and ÉPIX Strip 2.0 — and the ÉPIX Drive 642, which hosts the fixtures’ processing and power supply. Requiring little technical knowledge to set up and configure, the ÉPIX Series was designed to give users of all experience levels a way to achieve vibrantly colored pixel mapping and video in minutes with minimal effort.

Along with these brand-new series, CHAUVET Professional will showcase exciting additions to two of its most celebrated fixture families. The company’s Parnelli award-winning Nexus LED display series has been expanded with the launch of the Nexus Aq 5X5 (RGBW) and Nexus Aw 7X7 (WW) narrow beam panels. Ideal for creating large arrays on stage and in studio, these multi-function panels can be used for everything from generating high-impact aerial effects, to producing vibrant text and graphic displays, to serving as a wash or audience blinder.

Other must-see at PLS are the two newest models in the popular Legend moving head series. The Legend 412Z is a powerful and versatile RGBW LED wash fixture with zone control, which takes the company’s well-known Legend 412 to new degrees of brightness and functionality with 12, 10-watt quad-color LEDs, a wider array of programming options, and an 8-33-degree zoom. Also new to the series is the Legend 330SR Spot, a compact moving head spot featuring a 330-watt Osram Sirius lamp and precision optics for extremely intense brightness and crisp gobo projection — plus a full complement of pro features, including a custom-designed CMY color mixing system, 22 gobos, 8-facet prism and variable frost-filter for dual use as a wash-type fixture.

“Lighting professionals today are looking for fixtures that can perform multi functions, and thus give them greater design flexibility and value,” said Ford Sellers, Senior Product Manager for CHAUVET Professional. “We are addressing this demand with versatile products like the new Strike LED strobes, which are much more than just strobe lights, and the Nexus Aq 5X5 and Nexus Aw 7X7 LED displays, which can instantly go from being a bright stage wash to generating electrifying eye candy and aerial effects.

“Another demand we’re hearing from customers,” added Sellers, “is that they want easier access to the latest industry technologies, such as pixel mapping, Here, we believe our ÉPIX Series, which has been designed for those with limited technical backgrounds, will set a new standard for simplicity in configuring pixel and video displays. With products like these that meet today’s demands head-on, we’re very excited about this year’s PLS show, and we invite all attendees to stop by our booth to see these innovative new fixtures in action.”

Below is a closer look at some of the products that will be featured at CHAUVET Professional’s booth in Hall 11, Stand D34:

A sturdy and efficient cyc fixture belonging to the Ovation line of luminaires for stage and theater, Ovation C-640FC is a great replacement for the widely used halogen cyc lights, which can create virtually any color in the gel books. Going a step further, the Ovation C-640FC boasts an exclusive Virtual Color Wheel (VCW) that lets operators instantly access the most popular colors used for cyc and strip lighting when the unit is in either DMX mode, or standalone via the on-board display. This new, ultra-convenient VCW feature includes more than 30 pre-mixed hues, based on the most widely used cyc colors, from deeply saturated, to soft pastels. It consumes less power than traditional-style fixtures and is theatre-ready with 16-bit dimming control, (of each color) as well as a master dimmer.

COLORado 2 Quad Zoom Tour is a powerful, reliable, road-ready PAR-style powerhouse featuring 14 quad-color RGBW 15-watt LEDs, a versatile digital or manually controlled zoom range, and color temperature presets from 3,200K to 10,000K for use across markets. COLORado 2-Quad Zoom Tour’s versatile zoom range and five dimming curves allow designers to have creative freedom to use the fixture as a beam, wash, or both in the same rig. Secure Neutrik® powerCON® and 3-pin and 5-pin DMX input/output connections make it standard, and its tough construction make it a perfect addition to your international tours.

Strike 324 and Strike 882 LED Strobe LightsEmitting a powerful output and housed in a rugged, yet lightweight, diecast case, these low-profile strobes are ideal for touring and production applications. The Strike 324 is shaped like a low-profile par and is powered by 324 white SMD LEDs, while the panel-shaped Strike 882 contains 882 white SMD LEDs. Both fixtures’ LEDs are configured in 8-segment arrays, allowing for the creation of stellar visual effects, which can be combined with strobe macros for stunning visual impact. Both units also have an innovative All-On feature, which allows them to do double-duty as a floodlight and, in the case of the Strike 882, an audience blinder. Built for ease of use, the fixtures feature multi DMX control modes, 3-pin and 5-pin DMX connectors and Neutrik® powerCON® in and out.

ÉPIX Series — Designed for creating near effortless full-color pixel displays, the ÉPIX Bar 2.0 and ÉPIX Strip 2.0 are a one-meter bar and strip respectively that work together seamlessly and set up in minutes with minimal technical know-how. ÉPIX Bar 2.0 and ÉPIX Strip 2.0 can be easily controlled via industry standard Art-Net™ or ArKaos Kling-Net protocol. Up to four ÉPIX Strip 2.0 linear fixtures can be linked via network cables with a new hardware linking system. Featuring a wide 120-degree viewing angle, 25 mm pixel pitch and more than 2500-nit brightness, the ÉPIX Bar 2.0 houses 160 tri-color SMD 5050 LEDs and the ÉPIX Strip 2.0 contains 40 SMD 5050 LEDs for excellent color rendering. Each unit comes with both a frosted and clear lens cover, allowing the designer to further customize their fixtures to the application. Also included in the system is the ÉPIX Drive 642 (sold separately), which hosts the fixtures’ processing and power supply in one convenient device and is required for their operation.

Nexus Aq 5X5 and Nexus Aw 7X7 — Members of the new Nexus Affinity™ Series, the Nexus Aq 5X5 and Nexus Aw 7X7 pixel mapping LED panels offer the ultimate flexibility to build anything from stage totems to large array displays – and they can be used in virtually limitless ways: to create high-impact aerial effects, as a stage wash or audience blinder, or for vibrant text and animated graphics. This makes the panels ideal for a wide variety of applications — from live events, touring and stage productions, to nightclubs and entertainment venues, to broadcast studio illumination. Projecting narrow beams and featuring a smooth dimming curve, the Nexus Aq 5X5 RGBW panel utilizes 25 x 10-watt quad color LEDs, while the warm white Nexus Aw 7X7 contains 49 x 3-watt 2,800K white LEDs. Both models are controllable via DMX, Art-Net or Kling-Net and can be used with an optional Affinity Rig Kit to further simplify the building of large displays.

Legend 412Z – With an all-new, wide-ranging 8-33-degree zoom and the enhanced brightness of 12, 10-watt quad-color RGBW LEDs, this moving head wash fixture is more versatile and powerful than ever. Featuring fast precise pan/tilt movement and four zones of independent pixel mapping control, the Legend 412Z also offers flicker-free operation and road-worthy construction, making it an excellent choice for everything from touring to broadcast/film applications.

Legend 330SR Spot – Utilizing an ultra-powerful 330-watt 8,000K Osram Sirius lamp, this moving head spot emits an amazing output for its compact size — up to 29,940 lux at 5 meters — while its precision optics and even field of light yield stunningly crisp gobo projection. Along with greater brightness, the Legend 330SR Spot offers designers a greater array of creative options, including a custom designed CMY color mixing system, 8-23-degree zoom, 22 gobos (8 rotating, 14 static), 8-facet rotating prism, dimmer, iris, shutter/strobe, motorized focus, and variable frost filter that allows it to do double-duty as a wash-type fixture. The Legend 330SR Spot can be operated on 21 or 27 DMX channels, and it includes 3- and 5-pin XLR connectors and Neutrik® powerCON® connectors for fast, easy setup.
