BlackTrax Partners With Dataton To Win Prestigious Award

BlackTrax is proud to announce that, at ISE 2018, the integration with Dataton WATCHOUT® multi-display software was selected by rAVe Publications as winner of the ‘Best Concept Product’ award. This is the second year  running for BlackTrax, who were similarly recognised for the company’s collaboration with Panasonic in 2017.

“Our awards are won by companies who are offering something unique, innovative or outperform the competition,” said Gary Kayye, Founder of rAVe. “The demo was hands on and fun and showed what was possible.”

BlackTrax and Dataton demonstrated a planned future capability for WATCHOUT - available in Dataton rack servers - which will provide WATCHOUT with the ability to integrate real-time motion tracking systems that support the open source RTTrPM protocol. It was demonstrated in the Dataton booth with a 6-camera BlackTrax system, and featured a spectacular kinetic sculpture commissioned by Dataton from design and production agency MOOV of Poland.

“For anyone putting on any kind of show, life is getting harder,” said Marty Cochrane, BlackTrax Product Manager. “It’s becoming increasingly challenging to deliver the wow factor to audiences who are becoming more and more difficult to impress. BlackTrax opens up new creative possibilities and transforms what’s possible, creating effects that would be unattainable without it – effects that happen with unerring accuracy and repeatability and with no possibility of human error. We’re delighted to be working with Dataton to bring our special magic to their customers.”

BlackTrax is widely regarded in the industry as the most innovative, reliable and robust tracking solution.  It is a vision-based tracking system that connects to a range of third party applications, such as robotic lights, media servers, and any other third-party products that accept the RTTrPM open protocol. It has been deployed in over 8,000 shows globally from the recent Queen + Adam Lambert tour through Cirque du Soleil and the Eurovision Song Contest to major product launches and opening ceremonies.

“BlackTrax forms part of a solution that we’re really proud of,” said David Aleksandersen, Commercial Support Manager at Dataton. “Dataton WATCHOUT servers are widely used by the theatre, attractions and live event industries, and the ability to integrate real-time motion tracking systems will open up numerous new creative opportunities for them. Combining BlackTrax support with WATCHOUT’s extensive feature set will enable them to deliver even more engaging, more impactful shows.

“This integration is a further example of our strategy of growing by working closely with, and supporting, our partners to allow their imaginations and creativity to run free,” he continued.  “We look forward to seeing the results of our work with BlackTrax in many projects around the world.”

The award-winning integration will be shown at the Dataton stand (4.B24) at prolight + sound from 10-13 April at Messe Frankfurt.
