Bandit Brings The Lights To Halestorm

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE -- Halestorm has been a stalwart of the rock touring scene since their self-titled debut album rocketed up the charts in 2009. The Grammy-Award winning band, featuring the striking vocals of Lzzy Hale, with three studio albums and multiple EPs (including a recent release of cover songs) has built up a loyal fan base who knows that the band’s live performances are not to be missed. As to be expected, their current tour, featuring a lighting package from Bandit Lites, is no different.

Halestorm’s 2017 tour is taking them across the country, headlining and performing at multiple festivals and venues, and with the facilities varying from theaters to outdoor spaces, the lighting had to be adaptable, efficient, but match the powerful sound and hard rock energy fans come to expect from a Halestorm show.

Bandit Lites supplied forty feet of its custom GoGo truss, outfitted with Clay Paky Sharpys, GLP X4S fixtures, in addition to Martin Atomic 3000 Strobes, Bandit’s exclusive GRNLite LED Pars, CuePix blinders along with a grand MA 2 lite console.

By modifying a previous lighting design to accommodate the fly dates for the band, lighting designer Craig Richter created a more spacious design featuring towers and piping with the GLP X4S’s spread out left to right, rather than up and down.

“I have had the opportunity to work with Craig Richter for about five years now,” said Bandit’s Brent Barrett. “He is an extremely talented designer with a very good eye. Also, as a side bar, I applaud how he keeps the venues to be played in mind while putting together his design ideas.”

“Sharpys will cut through anything and they are light enough to throw on top of a tower and get some great beam looks, while the GLP X4S fixture gives me a lot of options for a small fixture that can cut through a local rig,” explained Richter. “I took the CuePix blinders because sometimes smaller festivals may not have a mole lite fixture, and they are great in that you don't need to carry a dimmer and you get some added features as well.”

“Working with Bandit is always a pleasure,” said Tour Manager and Production Manager Michael Mahar. “Attention to detail on all levels of the process makes for a great working relationship that that delivers every time.”

“In the time I have worked with Michael Mahar, I’ve learned he is a true professional inclusive of being a straight shooter and a detail guy,” added Barrett. “I appreciate his approach to business and enjoy the opportunity to work for him.”
