Mr. Koen Van Kerkhoven, Managing Partner of ShowTex was presented with the Theatres Trust's sustainability award by PLASA's Chief Executive Officer and Director of Events, Matthew Griffiths, for its Acoustic Baffle.
The Award was presented on the stage of the Trust's PLASA 2012 stand which this year featured the 'Celebrating Ecovenue' exhibition. The People's Choice Award was established through the Ecovenue project in 2010. The People's Choice Award is voted for by visitors to the PLASA 2012 show at Earls Court and is for products making inroads into sustainability - either through design, manufacture or operation. Other products entered into the 2012 Awards included the CORE Theatre Worklight , the ETC Source Four Dimmer, the ETC Source Four LED, the MAC Aura from Martin, Robert Juliat's TIBO and State Automation and the Air 30 from INCAND.
Tim Atkinson, Theatre Building Services Adviser for The Theatres Trust, who is delivering its European Regional Development Fund-backed 'Ecovenue' project, said, "I'm delighted that ShowTex has received this year's award. As Ecovenue ends on the 30 September I'm also pleased the Trust will continue to run the award as a legacy of the project. You can read more about the Ecovenue project's outcomes in our report 'Evaluating Ecovenue', also published today".
According to ShowTex Marketing Manager Jessica Ballenger the company's new Acoustic Baffle is “a flexible, easy, and ecological way to improve acoustics in a variety of stage, venue, and event applications.”
