Ricky's Audio Corporation Deploys HARMAN JBL VerTec®, VRX and VP Series Systems For Puerto Rico's Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure

Ensuring that Puerto Rico's annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was once again a success, leading audio supply company Ricky's Audio Corporation recently deployed HARMAN JBL VerTec® and VRX line array systems. The event was held at the Coliseum of Puerto Rico in San Juan to benefit and raise awareness for breast cancer research. The audio system supported a talented lineup of musical artists, entertaining more than 15,000 participants walking and running to celebrate and remember those affected by the illness.

The main stage featured 22 JBL VerTec VT4888DP midsize powered line array elements equipped with JBL DrivePack® technology, supplying clarity and high output from four separate array locations arranged to cover 270 degrees around the stage. These were supplemented with four VRX932LAP Constant Curvature powered loudspeakers and five VRX918SP Constant Curvature powered subwoofers. The stage monitoring system included 14 JBL VP7212MDP powered monitors. Eight Crown MA3600vz amplifiers provided additional power for fill speakers. The entire loudspeaker system was managed with two dbx 4800 Driverack units, used to configure and equalize 12 discrete coverage zones.

Ricardo Heredia, owner of Ricky's Audio Corporation, and engineer Nestor J Heredia, designed and deployed the system to handle the variety of performances and to serve as the general public address system.

“The system performed very nicely and the entire event went according to plan,” owner Ricardo Heredia said. “We continue to rely on VerTec line arrays for our biggest events and they continue to impress everyone, from the engineers to the artists to the crowds. We have very high expectations for JBL and the VerTec line arrays met those expectations at the Race for the Cure.”
