NEW CASTLE, DE - Pete's Big TVs provided Jazz in the Gardens Music Festival with LED screens and a full video production system and crew. The event, March 17-18, took place at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL.
Headline artists included Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, The Isley Brothers, Branford Marsalis, Kenny G, Patti LaBelle and more, with MC Lyte as host.
As the concerts each day started at 3 pm and ran until 11 pm, screen resolution was important, along with the ability to withstand weather conditions. Pete's Big TVs provided a 15x32 ft. screen for the mainstage, as well as left and right screens for IMAG at 12x20 ft each. They also supplied four remote or delay screens, also 12x20 feet each. All the screens were comprised of Gtech 15mm LED panels.

Guy Benjamin, project manager with Pete's Big TVs, said, “The Gtech 15mm screens are higher resolution, which is what we needed for the venue, and lighter in weight, which makes it easier on the rigging. In the past years we provided screens that weighed four times as much. These are also weatherproof, which is important for the outdoor shows.”

Another part of the Pete's Big TVs' package included four manned cameras: one was at the FOH, two were handheld and one was on a jib. Crew included Jody Lane as director, Brian Brinckman as engineer, and LED techs Matt Ellar, Brent Jones and Robert Maloney. Sam Fifield was the jib camera operator. Other camera crew were hired locally. Various Plasma screens were also positioned in the VIP areas and in the production offices.
Benjamin said, “This was the fifth or sixth year that we've supplied equipment and crew for this event. It's great working with AEG Live and the City of Miami Gardens for this show, which has featured major names in the jazz world over the years.”
