Night of the Proms and ShowTex celebrate in style

AluShapeFlowers This year marks the 25th anniversary of both Night of the Proms and ShowTex. For years ShowTex has provided the main stage fabrics and motion systems for this international music tour. This edition of Night of the Proms with Roxette, OMD and Toots Thielemans is no exception. The show kicked off at the Antwerp Sportpaleis on October 23 and travels from Belgium to Holland and Germany for 42 concerts. More than 600,000 audience members in total can once again experience spectacular live music backed by dazzling effects. ShowTex products and ShowLED starcloth combined with the light design of the Proms team form the perfect backdrop for great live performances.

NOTP 2009 opens with a giant red DekoTaft front curtain (1288 m² with 100% pleats) on a custom curved track. Musical notes are projected on the curtain while the audience waits for the show to start. When the curtain rises a black Lurex Crunch backdrop appears (1350 m² with pleats). This stage curtain changes color and texture along with the light show. Attached to a ShowTex Kabuki drop system, they fall at exactly the right moment to reveal the wonderful combination of ShowLED Animation starcloth and X-Foil.

The first half of the show also reveals 6 grand flowers made from LED lights and petals made from AluShape ( a flame retardant 3-D molding cloth with endless possibilities). Phosphorescent paint added to the petals makes them glow in the dark as well as change color throughout the show. 2 FrontScreen Blackout video screens hang left and right above the stage with live images of the performances. Even the sound speakers are covered in GobelinTulle acoustic gauze.

The newest effect at NOTP are the ShowLED Animation starcloths (16 curtains of 5x7m to cover an area of 560 m2) combined with ShowTex semi-transparent X-Foil. The X-Foil fills in the LEDs. The effect is bolder colors and stronger visuals than with an Animation starcloth curtain alone. Another first for NOTP 2009!
