New Vectorworks Tutorials Available from Jonathan Pickup

Columbia, Maryland (December 1, 2011) – Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc. is pleased to announce the publication of three new training guides for users of Vectorworks® software: 3D Modeling in Vectorworks, Fourth Edition; Vectorworks Architect Tutorial Manual, Fourth Edition; and Vectorworks Essentials Tutorial Manual, Fourth Edition. All three manuals were written by Jonathan Pickup, a leading Vectorworks trainer from New Zealand, and have been updated for use with the 2012 version of Vectorworks software.

3D Modeling in Vectorworks helps the reader build a foundation of skills for creating 3D forms through the use of extrudes, sweeps, solids, NURBS, loft surfaces and 3D primitives. The chapter on architectural modeling has been completely re-written to demonstrate how to use the new Automatic Working Planes with the Push/Pull mode.

Vectorworks Architect Tutorial Manual walks the user through a residential renovation project and demonstrates the process of documenting the existing site, preparing and presenting proposed designs and creating working drawings/construction documents. Although the example in the manual is a residential project, the principles learned can also be applied to commercial building design. The book includes a visualization chapter with the addition of massing models, an example using the new Heliodon Tool, and a solar animation exercise, as well as a greater focus on concept drawing and site analysis.

Vectorworks Essentials Tutorial Manual is designed to help the user build a foundation of essential Vectorworks knowledge, and it covers simple 2D drafting, 3D modeling, planar objects and file organization. Notes and exercises throughout the tutorial provide additional guidance.

"I am quite excited about the updates to these manuals,” said Pickup. “With every edition, I make sure we use the most up-to-date methods. I'm particularly excited about the 3D modeling tutorial, as it shows how a user can keep an entire design within the Vectorworks program without needing to use any other software. The guide also demonstrates how quick it can be to do 3D modeling.”

These tutorials are part of Nemetschek Vectorworks' self-paced training options, designed for people who like to learn on their own and at their own pace. For more information and to purchase these tutorials, please visit www.vectorworks.net/training/guides.
