Lane Chooses Yamaha PM5D-EX for 2010 Idols Live! Tour

The tour ends August 31st at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN.

Randy Lane was asked, once again, to take the roll of front of house engineer and, once again, chose a Yamaha PM5D-EX digital console system.

“My basic setup for this tour is a Yamaha PM5D with DSP5D Expander,” says Lane. I'm using version 2.25 software and clocking the console with an Apogee Big Ben Word Clock. The reason for this set up is just in case “American Idol” wants a multi-track recording, I can accomplish 64-tracks with my Nuendo 4 recording setup and a Yamaha MD-MADI-64 card system. This would also enable a virtual soundcheck setup in the event we didn't have a soundcheck for one of the show days. That hasn't happened yet, but it's nice to have that capability.”

Lane said the production team is carrying 68 Clair Global I-3 Speaker cabinets for the tour and 12 Clair Global BT-218 sub bass cabinets, using Lab Gruppen PLM20000Q amplifiers for the entire PA system.
