J. R. Clancy to highlight major projects, power flying at SHOWTECH 2011

Syracuse, NY—Using video to bring some of its most recent major projects to life for show attendees, J. R. Clancy, Inc. will present its most popular products at stand #B57 in Hall 2 at SHOWTECH 2011. The show takes place June 7-9 in Berlin, Germany.

A global trade show and conference for stage technology, equipment and event services, SHOWTECH presents its fifteenth biennial conference this year. Clancy will exhibit with its European partner, Hoist UK Limited.

At the show, Clancy will present videos of its most popular products for power flying: the industry standard PowerLift and the PowerAssist hoists, used to motorize counterweights sets. Clancy also will introduce its Titan hoist, the largest standard zero-fleet hoist manufactured by the company.

Attendees will have the opportunity to see video of one of Clancy's most extensive and distinguished projects: the award-winning chandelier at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, Texas. An original work of astonishing scale, this 40-foot diameter construction features 318 individual, illuminated acrylic rods, hanging above the audience chamber. The support wires are Clancy's unique technology—a single lift line that combines DMX, power and support in one cable. The rods are flown by 44 custom-designed winches with up to eight lines per winch—one for each rod. Each rod can travel as much as 60 feet as it glides into position.

Clancy also will feature its work at Princess Nora bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Within what will be the world's largest university for women is a theater complex with a 2500-seat performance hall, a 700-seat drama theatre and a black box theatre for lectures and small productions. While each theater has unique requirements, the contractor sought a single, proven supplier that could manufacture the complete package of under- and over-stage rigging for all three venues. Clancy provided a combination of hoists, lifts, controllers and a fire safety curtain to complete the job to theatre consultant Schuler Shook's specifications.

Finally, Clancy will be ready to discuss its current work at the new Abu Dhabi campus of Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates. The theatre on this new campus features a combination of PowerLift hoists for moving scenery and the orchestra shell, with 20 counterweight sets. Clancy's 3D motion control SceneControl 500 computer does double duty as the controller for the motorized hoists and for five stage lifts provided by Serapid, Inc.
