Leading lighting rental company HSL, based in Blackburn, UK, has bought 12 new Robert Juliat Lancelot 4K follow spots to add to its already substantial hire stock of RJ products.

These were supplied by UK distributors White Light, and were part of a £2.5 million investment that HSL has made in the last quarter of 2010 to service its ongoing work.

HSL MD Simon Stuart comments, ”We have been very happy with the reliability of all the Robert Juliat products purchased over the years and with the support from RJ and White light. We know this purchase will confirm our commitment to Robert Juliat as a leading brand in this field, and we also look forward to expanding on this initial investment soon.”

This commitment to RJ is echoed by Mike Oates, who says "HSL has always liked the Robert Juliat range for its quality and good engineering. We already operate approaching 40 x RJ follow spots, including Ivanhoe, Manon and Cyrano's - along with some of the smaller RJ fixtures.”

“As the demand continues to grow year on year within HSL for larger followspots to service and support the increase in large scale tours and events that we are currently involved with, the moment was right to invest heavily in this particular unit.”

He also adds that the service and technical support HSL receives from Robert Juliat and White Light is "Excellent", and that aligning HSL's range of follow spots with one premium brand makes operational criteria like sourcing spares very quick and efficient.

For White Light, it's been one of the largest UK sales of the Lancelot. Peter Threadgold says, “We are very happy to work with HSL. The discussions for this deal started earlier in the year and it's great to see how rental companies are valuing this equipment".

The main selling points of the Lancelot are its outstanding light output and extremely flat beam, very narrow zoom, fully closing iris and dimming quality. Practicalities like the unit being able to travel with the lamp in place make it ideal for touring applications and all HSL's work in the 'special event' sector.

It is renowned for being smooth to control, and can be completely tailored to individual needs using a set of onboard plug-and-play accessories, including the choice of manual or DMX control.

The ergonomics have been designed with the operator in mind, and include an easy to balance counterweight system for steady long distance movement, a large wrap around handle and compact size and weight.
