High Output Celebrates 25 Years

In 1986, John Cini and Jim Hirsch began an endeavor that has made a significant impact on the Boston film and television industry landscape. Starting with a simple package of lights and a single truck, High Output has grown to multiple disciplines in the lighting industry including Theatre + Performance, Special Event Production, Merchandise Sales, and Systems Installations and Design. High Output has grown from a small, single garage-sized space to a nearly 100,000 square foot complex in the Boston area with three additional regional locations.

Over 75 major films and countless television shows have turned to High Output for lighting and production related services. Including recent feature films such as, The Departed (Four-time Oscar Winner, including Best Picture), The Social Network (Oscar Nominated, including Best Picture), The Fighter (Oscar Nominated, including Best Picture), The Town, Knight and Day, Shutter Island, 21, Gone Baby Gone, Good Will Hunting, and Fever Pitch. High Output's television credits, most recently include CNBC's Mad Money College Tour, ESPN's Homecoming with Rick Reilly, America's Test Kitchen, Antiques Road Show, and Lifetime's Army Wives.

In 2011, they celebrated this silver anniversary with a self-produced event, utilizing designers and coordinators from their Special Event Production department. After In the early 90s High Output began providing lighting service for Theatre and Special Events. These departments have grown to include clients like the Boston Ballet, Longwood Events Boutique Venues, Shire Biopharmaceuticals, Chamber Theatre, Museum of Fine Arts and Harvard University.

The event, held on January 21st was an event to remember. With over 500 guests on hand to celebrate, Studio A, the largest space at about 7600 square feet, was designed with technology and style in mind. High Output production designers, project managers and a team of awesome vendors transformed the CRS spaces to feature High Output's history and future. Pulling in aspects of lighting, video, audio, rigging and some custom items, the room was made into a modern styled club like space that reflected the High Output brand. Using CORT Event Furnishing's Endless and Luna Furniture lines, a curving white seating sectional lined with glowing blue tables centered the room against the impressive back bar installation made from High Output's LED decking tiles and plasma displays. The team also put together large overhead installations to frame the room and lit them as décor; which elegantly juxtaposed the floral arrangements that Michele Bernard Floral provided for the evening.

The other spaces that guests were welcomed into included: the Studio B space; which was outfitted as a product display for Film and Television lighting, the Studio C space; featuring the High Output: A Look Back exhibit, a WEBbar showcasing High Output's newly designed and launched website and the rest of the studio complex; which had just recently gone through a major update.

High Output was proud to have the help of many wonderful vendors for their event, including CORT Event Furnishing, Bombay Sapphire, Choice Catering, Daniel Doke Photography, Michele Bernard Florals and Northern Lights Entertainment.

Thank you to everyone that has helped make High Output what it is today!
