HARMAN's JBL Loudspeakers At Caesars Atlantic City

jbl_boardwalk.jpgNORTHRIDGE, California – Caesars Atlantic City is one of the New Jersey shore's most popular hotels, offering entertainment, gaming, dining, luxury accommodations and much more in a spectacular oceanfront location. Caesars' newest attraction is the Boardwalk Beer Garden, a place to kick back and relax and enjoy a world-class selection of beers and microbrews, along with an ever-changing selection of live, recorded and DJ music.

Located right in the center of the Atlantic City action, the Boardwalk Beer Garden features a high-performance music system with several JBL PRX615M powered monitor loudspeakers. Aurora Sound and Light Design installed the system, under the direction of Ian Hoffer.

“We're specialists in the design and implementation of nightlife systems, and the majority of our work is club installations,” noted Hoffer. “The indoor portion of the Boardwalk Beer Garden was the site of a former club and already had a traditional sound system in place, but when the owners (Dusk Management Group) decided to create the Boardwalk Beer Garden featuring an outdoor seating and performance area, they needed additional sound reinforcement.”

“The project requirements called for high-quality, powered, and most importantly, portable speakers,” Hoffer continued. “I suggested that we use JBL PRX615M monitors to be evenly spaced along the beer garden, which is a long rectangular area outside of Caesars.”

The PRX615M features a 15-inch Differential Driveâ„¢ dual-voice-coil woofer and neodymium compression driver mounted to a 90º by 50º horn, all driven by a built-in dual 500-watt (1,000 watts total) Crown® Audio amplifier.

“The PRX615M was ideal for this application,” Hoffer said. “It fit the size and sound coverage requirements, and since it's self-powered, compact and weighs less than 50 pounds, the speakers are easy to move in and out. We also installed AC power and XLR audio receptacles next to each speaker to facilitate easy setup and takedown by the bar staff.”

“The speakers have performed great so far,” Hoffer concluded. “They're easily portable, and durable, which was a primary consideration for this application, and most importantly, they sound fantastic.”
