Cheltenham-based sound and lighting company adds 18 KF740 Three-Way Line Array Modules

as part of a strategic plan for expansion

Whitinsville, MA, USA, January 21, 2011 – Peak Hire Ltd., based in Cheltenham in Gloucester, England, continues to expand its EAW® inventory with the addition of 18 KF740 Three-Way Line Array Modules. The announcement was made by Peak Hire Managing Director Karl Ashman and signifies the first U.K. order of the critically acclaimed sound reinforcement module. Formally established in 2007, Peak Hire is one of the U.K.'s leading sound and lighting contractors, providing sound, lighting, rigging, power, set and stage equipment, as well as skilled technical support for productions, concerts, theaters, conferences, outdoor events, etc., The addition of KF740 modules from EAW, a world leader in audio system technology, was part of a strategic plan for Peak Hire's expansion and the company's ongoing commitment to their market sectors and clients.

“We bought a KF730 system about four years ago after extensive evaluation, and it became our first line array,” stated Karl Ashman. “Moray McMillin, who was EAW's U.K. Sales Manager at the time, and is now involved with EAW's Application Support Group, sold us the system after some live demos, and it was great. But eventually, we reached a point with our 730 system where, although we were achieving very good results in the situations we were using it, we needed to take the next step to be hired for larger venues and shows. Then the 740 came along. EAW's Kevin McNally arranged a demonstration at North Weald Air Field in Essex, and once we heard the 740 with its increased low-end and further throw, we were sold that this is the box we needed.”

Peak Hire's EAW arsenal was already sizeable, including 16 EAW KF730 Compact Line Array Modules, eight EAW SB730 Compact Line Array Subwoofers, 16 EAW MicroWedges, eight EAW KF850 Series Virtual Arrayâ„¢ System Modules, and 16 EAW SB1002 Large Format Flyable Subwoofers, along with a good stock of EAW JFX88 Compact Full-Range Loudspeakers, EAW JFX200i Compact Full-Range Loudspeakers and EAW SBX220 Compact Subwoofers.

“Aside from the outstanding sound quality, I was particularly impressed with how far the throw is of the 740,” said Ashman. “At the air field trials, we had EAW engineers mark out the field with distance markers, and they expected it to project accurately to about 100 meters — but it went far beyond that. The coverage pattern was also impressive.”

The addition of the KF740 modules will help Peak Hire continue to expand its business, and already the KF740 system has been used at a large outdoor event at the legendary Mallory Park Circuit (The Little Circuit with the Big View). “Triumph Motorcycles employed us to put on a concert for their anniversary at Mallory Park, and we used the 740 system on an outdoor stage for 10,000 people with the Stranglers and Mumford & Sons. And the visiting engineers were very pleased with the system, our crew was very pleased it, and it just worked flawlessly. It performed exactly the way we knew it would, partly because of EAW's Resolution software, which we plotted beforehand. The 740 is a joy to work with.”
