This week, production glue was honored to join Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore for the unveiling of Johns Hopkins Hospital's new $1.1 billion medical complex. Featuring The Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children's Center and the Sheikh Zayed Cardiovascular and Critical Care Tower, the state-of-the-art facility is one of the nation's largest hospital construction projects, and the largest to occur in Johns Hopkins' 120-year history.
In support of the dedication, production glue partnered with First Protocol to develop and execute multiple high-profile events, involving the hospital's top-named donors Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and the Royal Family of the United Arab Emirates, represented by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nayhan. Dignitaries, including Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, Maryland Senator Barbara Mikulski, and Johns Hopkins executives and administrators, were also part of the celebrations.
The official celebrations included a 450-person private dinner on Wednesday, April 11th, which concluded with a special “reveal” of the new building via a dynamic projected light show, followed by an official ribbon cutting and staged show on the afternoon of Thursday, April 12th. The ceremony featured two local choirs, a university a cappella group, Peabody Institute musicians and dancers, community members, and honored speakers. The 1,400-person audience was seated under a custom designed and fabricated structure that production glue developed to fit within the hospital's courtyard, matching the aesthetic of the environment and seating 1400 people in a non-traditional space. The stage was designed to integrate a one-of-a-kind sculpture created by the famed Robert Israel.
First Protocol engaged production glue as Creative and Production Partners in the yearlong project development, collaborating with multiple parties and city agencies. We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to First Protocol, Johns Hopkins Medicine, the Office of the Mayor of the City of New York, the Royal Family and Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, and the City of Baltimore. It was a pleasure to work together on this groundbreaking event.
