CREATIVE GROUP NAMES ERIC ALVARADO SENIOR COLORIST

NEW YORK, NY, March 20, 2009 ─ Creative Group, the industry's premier full-service post production facility, announces the appointment of Eric Alvarado as senior colorist. Alvarado brings a diverse background in color correction for film, television, music videos and commercials to Creative Group, exemplifying the company's commitment to dedicating top-tier talent for its large roster of projects. eric-alvarado-headshot.JPG

Alvarado is involved in a range of Creative Group projects, from fine tuning the imagery after transferring 16- and 35-mm film footage to HD ─ as he recently did for Major League Baseball (MLB) ─ to helping directors of music videos and commercials craft enticing, attention-grabbing looks with their footage. As he sees it, the best part of his job at Creative Group is the sheer diversity of the projects he handles.

“As a colorist, I want to do it all,” says Alvarado. “Variety is the key for me, and Creative Group allows me to work on so many different types of projects that I'm never bored. One day I might be doing something for Major League Baseball and the next day I'll jump into some music video footage. It's just a great mixed bag, and I like working at a place that allows me to have it that way.”

"Eric is a tremendous talent who brings a broad range of experience to Creative Group. I am thrilled that he is part of our team,” says Joseph Avallone, president and CEO, Creative Group. “His background as a colorist for television, film, commercials and music videos gives him the ideal skill set for our client base.”

Alvarado got his start in the industry after an injury sidelined his career as a professional basketball player with Puerto Rico's Fajardo Cariduros team. Upon returning to his hometown of New York City, he took a job with a post production company, where he taught himself colorist skills by studying manuals on the weekends and practicing on the company's da Vinci board during down times.

After mastering the technical aspects of color work, Alvarado began collaborating with the protégés of such high-profile music video directors as Benny Boom, Little X, Jesse Terrero and Hype Williams. His first big break as a colorist was the Nas video “Oochie Wally,” and he has since then built an impressive portfolio of credits. In addition to videos, commercials and feature films, he has worked on several high-profile episodic television shows, including Sex and the City, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Spin City. He also has two Super Bowl commercials under his belt, as well as several award-winning documentaries, including The Fog of War.

Prior to joining Creative Group, Alvarado served as the colorist for several other notable post production studios, including Post Perfect, Post Works, Post Logic and Moving Images (MI Post).
