CONFERENCE ATTENDEES FIND SOLUTIONS FOR UNSTABLE ECONOMY

BLC2 BLC1 NSCA Business & Leadership Conference Attendees Get Back to Basics

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, March 3, 2009 — The NSCA Business and Leadership Conference, sponsored by InfoComm International, concluded with positive discussions on resolutions, ideas and new strategies to handle business management in today's uncertain economy.

Commercial electronic systems integrators were encouraged by the overwhelming sense of community they experienced during this year's event. At a time when negative news and concerns surrounding economic stability consume staff at every level from business managers to technicians, conference attendees discovered staffing strategies, financial fixes and creative marketing methods at the event held last week in Phoenix, Arizona.

Elias Mack, production manager at Communications Specialists Inc., took five pages of notes during just one session of the conference.

“I can't wait to implement the ideas shared during Bob Prosen's session, Accountability-Based Leadership,” Mack said. “This session alone made the conference worthwhile and provided real-life solutions for attendees to start using right away.”

In addition to general sessions, a variety of networking events and social opportunities allowed attendees to discuss firsthand their daily challenges and what works for them. Special guest, Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA), shared insight into both benefits and areas of improvement needed for the recently passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This important legislation is designed to jump-start the economy and includes opportunities for small businesses, an important topic for conference attendees.

Safeguard Security President and member of the Business & Leadership Conference Committee, Mike Bradley, said this year's event raised the bar.

“When you have the issues today's small business owners and managers are dealing with, you can't push the panic button, you have to get back to basics,” Bradley said. “Our peers are no-nonsense and this event provides frank and provoking discussions that you can't get at any other industry event.”

“Now, more than ever, systems integrators need to know they have the full support of their industry and their association,” said NSCA Executive Director, Chuck Wilson. “NSCA provides opportunities to network and gain valuable knowledge on the tools of the trade, but also the tools of the business through valuable member resources and events such as the Business and Leadership Conference. This year's event was a great success in providing the networking and resources our members need to get through the year ahead.”

NSCA would like to thank its generous sponsors of this year's event, especially host sponsor, Atlas Sound/IED, and Systems Contractor News (SCN), co-host and media sponsor of the event. Additional sponsors include: AMX, Biamp Systems, Bosch Communication Systems, Dove Net (The Project System); FSR, Inc; Herman Procurement & Logistics; Lutron Electronics; Rauland-Borg Corporation; Shure Incorporated; Tannoy | LAB Gruppen; West Penn Wire and Wiremold Legrand.
