London, England, August 27, 2008—Bottletop, a UK-based charity that empowers young people worldwide through sexual health education and HIV prevention, has chosen Avastor's HDX800 triple interface FireWire drives to store all of its London-based recordings for its Brazilian influenced CD. Bottletop has received high praise from a variety of well-known personalities, ranging from former U.S. President Bill Clinton to ex-United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan for its creative approach to the non profit sector. Its music arm initiates cross-cultural collaborations, bridging the gap between exciting musical styles from across the world.
This innovative CD will be a live recording of The Bottletop Band, which consists of high-profile UK and U.S. artists from bands such as Good Charlotte, Reverend and the Makers, The Arctic Monkeys and Dirty Pretty Things. The band is also collaborating with Brazilian classic and contemporary musicians including the producer of the Beastie Boys, Mario Caldato. All proceeds will go to the Bottletop charity.
Faced with the challenge of limited studio time resulting in little room for error, Bottletop quickly realized that the reliability of the equipment it used would be vital to the success of the album. “If the equipment failed, the recording would have been lost forever and the project would never have been completed,” says Oliver Wayman, director of musical operations of Bottletop. “Choosing Avastor was an easy decision. All of the studio engineers and producers I turned to agreed that there was only one brand of hard drive that was not only solid, robust, and portable, but would also be able to secure all of our data, and that was Avastor. As expected the hard drive has been 100% effective.”
The UK sessions are currently being held at the recently refurbished Dean Street Studios located in London's Soho district. This historic facility was owned and operated by David Bowie producer Tony Visconti and formerly known as Good Earth Studios.
The Brazilian focused music CD, which is currently untitled, will be released through a major label and will be available in various music retail outlets as well as through Fenchurch clothing who are sponsoring the album. Subsequent albums will have different musical themes incorporating artists from the countries of which the music is focused.
Avastor hard drives are exclusively distributed in the UK by Protape Ltd.
