AUERBACH BEGINS WORK ON MOUNT ROYAL UNIVERSITY, CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC

SAN FRANCISCO, NEW YORK, MINNEAPOLIS - (July 22, 2010) Auerbach Pollock Friedlander, Performing Arts/Media Facilities Planning and Design, has begun work on Calgary's Mount Royal University Conservatory of Music with Lead Architect Pfeiffer Partners, Inc. in association with locally-based Sahuri + Partners Architecture, Inc. Acoustical design is being provided by The Talaske Group.

Auerbach Pollock Friedlander is providing full scope theatre consulting services for the new free-standing Conservatory that offers non-credit performance-based instruction to Mount Royal students and musicians from the greater Calgary community. The planned 700-seat concert hall, ensemble studios and practice rooms are associated with the University's outreach programming, serving over 30,000 students ranging from toddlers enrolled in “Music with Your Baby” and Suzuki piano courses for young children to solo instruction for students and adults of all ages. The Conservatory's capital campaign has relied on the resources of the Canadian government as well as private donors who have responded generously to the institution's ambitious business plan and expansion of facilities.

Located on the Lincoln Park Campus, the Conservatory is part of a six phase expansion program that started in 2001 to increase student enrollment. Mount Royal University currently has an enrollment of more than 12,000 full- and part-time credit students.

The new Conservatory is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2013 and will be a focal point of the expanded campus.
