Wisbech, UK based 5 Star Cases - the UK's leading flightcase manufacturer - has designed and manufactured a bespoke flightcase for Paragon Projection, to house their new fleet of Christie Micro Tiles.
Paragon Projection, in Hednesford, Staffordshire is a trade-only rental specialist in professional display equipment for exhibitions, and training seminars, as well as Europe's number one trade-only plasma screen rental company.
The company has been a long time customer of 5 Star, which has supplied them with a huge amount of cases for plasma and LCD screens, projectors, lenses and numerous accessories over the years.
Brand new to Paragon's hire inventory is the Christie Micro Tile, and as soon as they'd taken delivery of the first batch of 60 Tiles, Paragon's Mark Davies again contacted 5 Star to create a case solution.
The brief was to house 6 Tiles, the associated mounting hardware, accompanying ECU control unit and the front display screens, which are detachable from the Tile itself ..... and extremely fragile!
To ensure these can travel safely and securely, a separate removable tray was designed in the case to house the 6 screens. This lightweight tray slots into the end cavity of the main flight case, and its weight is minimised by utilising carpet covered 4mm birch plywood, complete with suedette covered polyethylene foam protections for the actual screens.
Once the Tiles are rigged and tested, the technician can then safely take the screens in the removable tray over to the Tiles, ensuring maximum protection of these delicate elements until safely attached to the Tiles.
The trunks are made from 5 Star's rugged Tour Grade specification materials and feature individual compartments for the 6 Micro Tiles plus the removable screen trays. A total of 10 x 6-way trunks have been supplied to Paragon.

A previous 5 Star/Paragon specialist project was to devise a case to house the monster Panasonic 103” plasma screen - of which Paragon has one of the largest hire stocks. These weigh-in at a quarter of a tonne each, and to date 5 Star has supplied no fewer than 132 shock-mounted cases for Paragon!
